The New Skinny Bagel at Bruegger’s

Bagels remind me of my 20s.  You know, that time when I thought I could eat whatever I wanted and it didn’t matter as long as I wasn’t gaining weight.  I had so much to learn! I’m pretty sure I ate a bagel with fat free cream cheese for breakfast at my desk every day back then. There is so much wrong with that sentence. On Sunday’s, my husband and I used to stop for bagels and coffee on the way to church.  It was always a relaxing time for us to catch up after a busy week of work and it’s a fond memory for me.

Over the last few years, bagels have fallen off the menu for us.  Mainly because I’ve found that my body just doesn’t feel good after that much bread.  As much as I love a good bagel and the sweet memories they bring up, I have to admit that for me and for many others, it’s just too much bread at one time.  That’s why I was excited to learn about the new Skinny bagel at Breugger’s.

It’s not a fat free bagel void of taste or loaded with fake sugars to make up for what’s been taken away.  It’s the same amazing bagel you expect thanks to a patented idea by one of their employees.  Their chef didn’t want to sacrifice the unique flavor and texture of the Bruegger bagel so instead of modifying the recipe to reduce the fat or carbs they modified the bagel.

Bruegger’s developed a patented cutting system that allows them to remove the midddle third of any bagel cutting the calories, fat and carbs by one third.  Without all that extra bread, there’s lots of rooms to stuff your skinny bagel full of healthy goodness.  Take a look at the new Skinny Menu for ideas like fresh eggs, turkey sausage, crisp lettuces, onions and tomatoes or even salmon.

We eat 90% of our meals at home, but when we eat out, I like to know there are a few restaurants that have health conscious options.  In addition to their Skinny Bagels, Bruegger’s also offers 5 salads and a selection of hot soups under 500 calories.

If that’s not reason enough to like Bruegger’s, here’s one more .  This month, Bruegger’s is kicking off a summer fundraising campaign to benefit the kids and families served by Chidren’s Miracle Network Hospitals across the country.  For every Facebook “LIKE”, Bruegger’s will donate $1 to your local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital.  The Click for Kids campaign ends June 21 so take a minute to “LIKE” them now!  And if you’re a coffee drinker, stop by your local Bruegger’s location on June 21 for FREE iced coffee day.  They’ll be collecting additional donations to wrap up the campaign.  If you’re in Nasvhille, your contributions will be used by Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital to help families who can’t afford services for their children.

  1. I love carbs but the problem is they love me (and my BUTT) even more. ;)

This was a great way to learn more about Bruegger’s. I was already a big fan of their Leonardo Di Veggie sandwich! Loved the iced coffees, too.

    It was great seeing you!
