Snack Idea #1: Spicy Tamari Popcorn

I found this popcorn recipe on Dr. Weil’s website and it is now in the regular snack rotation.  I call it “grown-up” popcorn because these flavors aren’t for kids.  If you’re planning a date-night in this weekend you should give this a try.  In case you’re wondering, it’s a pretty descent compliment to a nice glass of red wine.  Not a dark chocolate kinda match, but still good.

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoons of expeller-pressed unrefined coconut oil
  • 1/2 cup of organic non-GMO popcorn kernels
  • 1 tablespoon of nutritional yeast
  • 2 tablespoons of gluten-free Tamari
  • garlic powder
  • cayenne pepper

Directions:

Melt the coconut oil in a large pan on medium heat.  Add the popcorn kernels and place a lid on the pan.  Let the popcorn pop until you can count to 3 without seeing any corn pop.  Empty into a large bowl.  Drizzle the Tamari over the top and sprinkle on the nutritional yeast.  Add garlic powder and cayenne pepper to taste.  Shake it up and enjoy.

Would you try this?
