Say It Do It, with Fit Chick in The City

Fit Chick in The City is one of the many blogs I love to read.  She’s committed to living an active, healthy lifestyle, but she’s also real.  One of my favorite features on her blog is the weekly Say It Do It post.  It’s pretty simple.  Every Monday, Jess lists her workout plans for each day of the week.  By sharing them out loud for everyone to read she increases her motivation and accountability to stick to her intentions and make her health a priority in her busy week.

Since I started nutrition school about a month ago, I’ve noticed that I’m having a harder time following through on my weekly activity commitments.  I have great intentions, but our days are so busy right now that my regular workouts have started to slip and I feel it.  I feel it in the tightness in my hips and the afternoon energy slumps.  I enjoy my workouts and I feel better when I do them regularly.  For me, that usually means 30 minutes a day 6 days a week.  So this week, I shared my intentions over at Fit Chick in the City.  If you’re looking for a little more accountability, I’d encourage you to give it a try.

Here’s what I shared.

Monday: Jillian Michael’s Yoga Meltdown DVD workout

Tuesday: Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred DVD workout

Wednesday: Ruah Movement Warrior DVD workout

Thursday: Jillian Michael’s No More Trouble Zones DVD workout

Friday: Piloxing class at the gym

Saturday: Teaching our oldest to ride his bike, which means lots of running for me

Sunday: Taking the kids swimming so I’ll swim laps during the 10 min rest periods for my workout

It’s gonna be a busy and rainy week here, so I’m planning indoor workouts I can do in 45 minutes or less.

What are you’re plans to stay active this week?  Follow along, encourage and be encouraged.  Visit Fit Chick in the City and share your plans in the comments.

  1. Love the variety in your workouts! That really makes me think I should give that a try. I think I get bored doing the same thing for too long. My back has been giving me trouble, so I hope to get back to working out soon! :)

Jennifer, I get bored easily too. I like to vary my workouts when I can. Lately, I’ve been doing mostly pilates type workouts from the suzanne bowen fitness website, but this week I’m changing it up a little. Hope you’re back feels better soon!

  2. What a great idea! Since I’m a fitness instructor, I have built-in workouts a few days a week :-) , but sometimes, on off days, I definitely slip up…today, I’m planning to do some gardening, with lots of stretching afterward, and call it good!
