active play as part of a healthy lifestyle. We experienced the physicality of various Wii games, including Wii Sports Resort and Wii Fit Plus, enjoyed a heart healthy lunch and heard from some amazing women and ambassadors for the American Heart Association.
We ended the event with the most amazing smoothies (disguised at martinis) and the opportunity to write ourselves a healthy living reminder that would be mailed to us at a later date. I had compltely forgotten about it until mine arrived yesterday. Just three hours after posting about being more active with my boys I got this reminder from myself…
“Make time for exercise and be active with the boys. Teach them to enjoy and appreciate the value of an active lifestyle. But don’t stress about it. Focus on purpose not perfection.”
A good reminder! Thanks Nintendo and American Heart Association for sending it at just the right time!
In case your curious about the smoothie martinis…here’s the amazing recipe courtesy of Nintendo and Nashville’s Hutton Hotel.
Honeydew Lime Smoothie
3 cups peeled, roughly chopped honeydew melon
¼ cup honey
Juice of 2 limes
Pinch of kosher salt
¼ cup of spinach leaves
1 cup vanilla yogurt
1. Briefly freeze the melon until slushy frozen, about ½ hour.
2. Puree all ingredients until very well blended
3. Adjust flavor with more lime juice and/or honeydew to your taste.
